The 440th Aircraft Maintenance Group (AMG) conducted a Relinquishment of Command Ceremony at the 440th AMG Hangar Alpha, marking a significant leadership transition within the unit. The ceremony was presided over by the Commander, Air Education and Training Command (AETC), MGEN JESUS NELSON B MORALES PAF, and was attended by the Command Staffs, Unit Commanders, School Commandants, as well as officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian employees of the Group.

In his remarks, MGEN MORALES lauded the outgoing Group Commander, COL ROMMEL C TOMAS PAF (GSC), for his exemplary leadership and dedication to duty. He expressed admiration for the “3Cs of leadership” consistently exemplified by COL TOMAS—Christ, Commitment, and Communication—which, he noted, greatly contributed to the unit’s discipline, cohesion, and operational effectiveness.

COL TOMAS served as the Group Commander of the 440th AMG for almost three years, from 16 September 2023 to 12 January 2026. During his tenure, he led the unit toward sustained excellence by upholding high maintenance standards, strengthening teamwork, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

In recognition of his outstanding service and significant contributions to the Philippine Air Force, COL TOMAS was awarded the Military Merit Medal and presented a Plaque of Appreciation.

Subsequently, COL TOMAS formally relinquished his post by turning over the Unit Flag to the incoming Acting Group Commander, LTCOL RYAN JOSEPH L MAGBOJOS PAF, symbolizing the transfer of authority, responsibility, and command.

In his valedictory address, COL TOMAS expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the men and women of the 440th AMG for their unwavering support, dedication, and professionalism. He reminded the group to maintain established standards, continue pursuing improvement, and uphold the legacy of excellence built during his leadership. The ceremony reaffirmed the 440th AMG’s commitment to professionalism, leadership continuity, and mission readiness in support of the Philippine Air Force.
